How to paint marble

Whilst painting a kitchen in Stillorgan, we were asked could we paint the marble surround to the Aga in a kitchen as the marble no longer went with the new colour scheme of the hand-painted kitchen cabinets and walls.

Steps to painting marble

1. We rubbed the marble down with emery paper.
2. After this, we “bin” primed the marble.
3. Once it was primed, we painted the marble much the same way as painting kitchen cabinets.

As you can see, it worked out very well!

Why paint marble?

By painting the marble surround, it saved our client several hundred, if not thousands of euros as the marble did not have to be replaced.

Yes, this also applies to painting marble fireplaces or surrounds as they can also be painted when you’re updating your kitchen, living or dining room.
